The short version
What you play stays on your computer. This website collects only what you type into the waitlist form. The Duetra app sends nothing unless you turn on anonymous usage analytics, and even then it never sends your music.
Who we are
Duetra is made by [LEGAL NAME / BUSINESS NAME], [ABN, if any], [CITY, STATE], Australia. For anything about your privacy, email [PRIVACY CONTACT EMAIL].
This policy covers the website at [DOMAIN] and the Duetra desktop app during early access. We handle personal information under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles.
The website and waitlist
When you join the waitlist we collect:
- your email address;
- your answer to "what do you play?", if you choose to give one;
- the page you signed up on, the site that referred you, and campaign tags in the link you followed (for example
utm_source), if there are any.
We use this only to tell you about early access and Duetra's launch, and to understand who Duetra is for. We don't sell it, rent it or share it for anyone else's marketing.
The website sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising trackers. Our host keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and the time of a request) to deliver and secure the site.
The Duetra app
These stay on your computer, and we cannot see them:
- everything you play and everything the app plays back, including jams you save as MIDI;
- performance takes you record, ratings you give the Improviser, and harmony corrections;
- model files, instrument and plugin choices, and settings;
- a local log of error categories (no messages, paths or musical content), which you can copy into a support report yourself.
If you turn on Share anonymous usage analytics (Settings → Privacy & Data), the app sends: app version, build type, operating system and processor type; which setup steps worked; how long you played and whether you used Jam; counts such as responses generated and heard, ratings and panics; error categories and response-time statistics; and a random installation ID that isn't linked to your name, email or device. Analytics are off until you turn them on, and you can turn them off at any time. Unsent events are then deleted.
Never collected: notes, chords, timing, velocities or any MIDI; audio; recordings, takes or project files; song, project, preset, library or device names; file paths, error messages or stack traces; your name, email or IP-derived location.
Who processes data for us
- Netlify, Inc. (United States) hosts this website and stores waitlist submissions.
- PostHog, Inc. processes the app's opt-in analytics in its [EU (Frankfurt) / US] region. We configure it to discard IP addresses and not to derive location.
- [EMAIL PROVIDER, if you send waitlist emails through one].
These providers may store data outside Australia. We use them only as service providers acting on our instructions, and we take reasonable steps to make sure they protect it.
How long we keep it
Waitlist details: until you ask us to remove them, or [RETENTION PERIOD, e.g. 12 months after launch], whichever comes first. App analytics: [RETENTION PERIOD, e.g. 12 months], or until the end of early access, whichever comes first. After that we [DELETE THE DATA / RETAIN AGGREGATES ONLY].
Your choices
- Leave the waitlist, or ask what we hold about you, by emailing [PRIVACY CONTACT EMAIL].
- Ask us to correct or delete your information. We'll respond within 30 days.
- In the app, reset your anonymous ID under Settings → Privacy & Data so future data can't be linked to past data, or email us that ID (found in
%APPDATA%\Duetra\analytics-preferences.json) to have its data deleted. - If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au. If you're in the EU or UK, you also have rights under the GDPR, including the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
Duetra isn't directed at children under [AGE, e.g. 16], and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date above. Sharing performances with us isn't part of early access. If it's ever offered, it will ask for your permission separately and will be off by default.
